mid-March 2000 - Lots O' Spots!
Ali is recuperating from the chicken pox - a very BAD case of the chicken pox!
3/22/00 - "Look Ma, I can do it myself!"
Ali no longer needs help at the bottom of the slide.
She lands on her feet, stands up and walks off all by herself!
What a big girl! :)
June 2000 - Independence Day
Typical toddler independence and negativism has set in.
"No" can mean "no" to "I want it - but not from you" to
"I want it but I'm not willing to admit it yet".
The high chair is history and it's often a struggle to get her to agree to sit in the booster chair.
Unfortunately, her table manners haven't caught up to her desire for independence yet!
August 2000 - Oh yeah, she's two!!
Now I remember why they call these the terrible two's! Two-ness is running rampant in our house.
She's contrary, negative, wants everything and nothing all at the same time...
Yet, she has a smile that lights up a room and a hug that can melt your heart.
You just can't help but love her (while hoping for this stage to pass - quickly!)
January 2001 - No longer a baby; not yet a little girl
But she is getting there so quickly!
She looks more and more like a child and less like a baby with each passing day.
This is exciting, but sad, too.
She is really growing up, talking more each day and becoming increasingly independent.
She is still Mommy's baby, though.
September 2001 - Ali turns 3 - My baby's growing up!
She is turning into such a big girl!
She talks alot, is potty trained, can dress herself and traded in her Nukkie (pacifier) for a new baby doll.
She enjoys riding her trike, drawing (unfortunately, not always on paper!), and playing pretend.
She is such a whirlwind of contradictions.
One minute, she's dressing herself and telling you what a big girl she is
and the next, she's having a tempter tantrum worthy of any two year old
or is demanding to be carried up the stairs.
But, one look at that big, cheesy Ali grin and your heart just melts. (Well most of the time!)
Current tooth count as of September '01: All of them except her 2 year molars.
Two of them are just starting to break through the gums, according to the dentist.
Commonly used words and phrases:
"Because"
(I consider this is better than the non-stop "Whys" that punctuated Jessica's preschool period
"She was my mommy first!"
The start of a common sibling rivalry match
"like dat" (like that)
"I love ..." or "... loves me"
Alison is very enthusiastic in her emotions. She loves quite alot of things!
